After a decade of preparations, an art lover's dream will debut
in China. China's largest-ever exhibition reflecting the history
and development of American art over the centuries?opens at
the National Museum of China this?afternoon.
The exhibition contains 130 works, including collections
from?10 separate European museums and agencies. In all, 120
artists each holding important roles in American art history are
represented. These works will track 300 years of innovation in
American art, ranging from the dawn of the 18th century to the
present day.
The exhibition is hosted by the China Museum of Art and
organized in collaboration with the Solomon R. Guggenheim
Foundation, in partnership with the Terra Foundation for American
Art. After closing in Beijing on April 5, it will set off on a tour
of Shanghai and to other countries.
