David Beckham is expected to show off his singing skills during
the National Day holiday in Beijing next week to help promote the
Beijing Olympic Games, the Shanghai Morning Post reported
Thursday.
The soccer star is expected to shoot a music video in the
National Stadium, also known as the Bird's Nest, during the
weeklong holiday together with celebrities such as Taiwan pop music
star Jay Chou and renowned Taiwan model Lin Chi-ling, the report
said.
Shanghai EE Media Co Ltd, the organizer of the popular
star-making show "Super Girl," has received approval from Olympic
organizers to arrange a team of star cheerleaders for the games,
the report said.
Lu Hua, an official with the company, said they have spent
millions of yuan on the activity, not including payments to
Beckham, the report said.
"Beckham is very supportive of the activity, and his only demand
is that the song must move him," Lu said.
Beckham is expected to sing some of the lyrics in Chinese, Lu
said. But the length of his Chinese singing depends on how quickly
he can pick up the language, the report said.
