A classic folk song concert featuring Chinese singer Zu Hai and Spanish singer Jos Carreras was held Tuesday in the Golden Hall in Vienna to mark the upcoming Shanghai Expo.
The concert was organized by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), in cooperation with the Austrian-Chinese Cultural Exchange Association and the Austrian-Chinese Friendship Association.
The concert drew more than 1,000 audiences.
In a reception held at the end of the concert, President of the Austrian National Council, Barbara Prammer, congratulated the success of the concert and wished the Shanghai Expo 2010 a success.
Zu Hai, a popular Chinese folk song singer, performed Chinese and foreign folk songs including "My Motherland," "the village Sanshilipu," "Clouds like Hada" and "Song of the Mountains."
Spanish tenor Jos Carreras performed songs including"Core n` grato," an Italian folk song from Salvatore Cardillo, and the Spanish opera "Roso-pel teu amor," etc.
The two singers jointly sang the Chinese folk song "Faraway Place" in Chinese.
The concert was accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra of Vienna State Opera and the Association of the Vienna Boys Choir. The two music groups also jointly sang the "Blue Danube."
Austrian Justice Minister, Claudia Bandion-Ortner, president of CPAFFC, Chen Haosu, and Chinese Ambassador to Austria Wu Ken, the Permanent Representative of China to United Nations Office at Vienna, Hu Xiaodi attended to the concert.
