Chinese NBA star Yao Ming, Los Angeles Lakers' giant Kobe Bryant and retired Magic Johnson may star with Chinese mainland actor Huang Xiaoming in a basketball-themed film, the Beijing News reported on Thursday.
Chinese mainland director Hu Xuehua will direct the film, sponsored by the Shanghai Film Group Corp and Dasheng International.
The film, called "amazing" by NBA Commissioner David Stern, tells the story of NBA stars coming to China to train prospective players for the NBA.
It was reported that Yao Ming and former Lakers player Johnson promised to participate in the film under the help of Stern, and Kobe Bryant was in discussions.
However, Ren Zhonglun, CEO of Shanghai Film Group Corp, didn't give any explicit response to those reports but expressed that his company was in touch with Yao Ming and Johnson.
Yao Ming starring as a coach in the film would work with Huang Xiaoming as one of Yao's players. Hong Kong movie star Yu Wenle or Shawn Yue may also join the film.
