Paramount Pictures and MTV Films said Wedneday that they were developing a movie based on Tom Cruise's role from the 2008 film "Tropic Thunder", according to U.S. media reports.
Cruise would star in and produce the movie along with "Tropic" co-star and director Ben Stiller Red Hour Films. Cruise would portray Les Grossman, a supporting character in the film "Tropic Thunder".
Perhaps as a publicity strategy to lift market expectation for the movie, Stiller noted in a statement, "Les Grossman's life story is an inspiring tale of the classic human struggle to achieve greatness against all odds --- I am honored to be working with him."
Tom Cruise even wound the trumpet louder as saying: "To quote my great friend Kirk Lazarus, 'I don't read the script, the script reads me.'"
Lazarus was a key figure in "Thunder" and landed Robert Downey, Jr. an Oscar nod for Best Supporting Actor for his performance.
No word if he'll be a cameo or if any of the other "Thunder" stars in the new untitled project.
