The upcoming basketball film "Amazing" will be produced by the Shanghai Film Group Corporation (SFGC) and the National Basketball Association (NBA) and will begin shooting this August, the Oriental Morning Post reports.
NBA commissioner David Stern came up with the name for the film, and invited Earvin "Magic" Johnson, Dwight Howard, Carmelo Anthony, and Chinese players Yao Ming and Yi Jianlian to star in the film.
Michael Jordan, who is the most influential basketball star among Chinese fans, might also appear in the film.
It has been reported these famous players will take advantage of the off-season to showcase their superb skills for fans and audiences alike.
Meanwhile, a handful of Asian actors will get the chance to play with those great players for the project. Actors who may appear in the film include Jay Chou, Daniel Wu, Wu Chun, Peter Ho, Han Geng, Huang Xiaoming, Shawn Yue, Ethan Ruan, Mark Chao and Nicholas Tse.
As this year's most anticipated SFGC production, the company's president Ren Zhonglun first spoke with commissioner Stern about the film last October, and both quickly reached an agreement to make the film.
