Eminem and Lady Antebellum lead a strong field of nominees for the 2010 American Music Awards (AMA) with five nominations each, followed by Justin Bieber with four nods, it was announced Tuesday, October 12.
B.o.B., Katy Perry, Kesha and Usher trailed Justin Bieber with three nods each.
The 38th annual AMA ceremony will be held November 21 at the Nokia Theatre at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles. Usher, Pink, Bon Jovi and a host of other famous artists are expected to perform live at the ceremony.
Up for the 2010 Artist of the Year are Justin Bieber, Eminem, Kesha, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry. Eminem and Bieber are also competing for best male pop/rock artist and pop/rock album. Along with Lady Antebellum, who was nominated for best band, duo or group in both the pop/rock and country categories, the trio also got the nods for best adult contemporary artist.
Winners will be determined by online voting and the first round of voting began Tuesday and continues through October 22, winnowing the list of nominees to four.
Voting on the final four nominees will begin October 25 and continue during the live telecast of the awards ceremony on November 21, the organizers said.
Fans can also vote for the T-Mobile Breakthrough Artist Award via T-Mobile text messaging. The hopefuls for the award are: B.o.B, Bieber, Taio Cruz, Jason Derulo, Kesha, Lady Antebellum, Travie McCoy and Mike Posner.
