China's publication authority Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding with British company, Pearson plc, to promote Chinese literature in international market, and support Chinese publishers to go global.
The MOU was signed by Wu Shulin, vice director of General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP) and Marjorie Scardino, chief executive officer of Pearson plc here in Beijing.
GAPP will support Chinese publishers to partner with Pearson plc in their overseas development, and GAPP will work with Pearson plc to train Chinese-English translators, according to the MOU.
Further, Pearson plc will publish more translated Chinese modern literature works and educational works in the international market.
Pearson will also support China to participate in 2012 London International Book Fair as the "Market Focus."
Wu Shulin said, the MOU will facilitate Chinese publishers to carry out strategic cooperations with world publication giants, so that more Chinese books could be introduced to the world.
Pearson plc is a global media company headquartered in London, United Kingdom. It is both the largest education company and the largest book publisher in the world, with consumer imprints including Penguin, Dorling Kindersley and Ladybird.
