A bilingual comic book promoting low carbon lifestyles was launched here on Wednesday.
The Green Life Comic Book published 57 cartoon works on low carbon living habits by 16 artists from China's mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Renata Lok-Dessallien, UN resident coordinator and United Nations Development Program (UNDP) resident representative in China, said UNDP is proud to partner with China in its transition to a low carbon and socially equitable society and the book is an important step along the path.
"Inspired by the ideas in the book, each of us can become a green ambassador, and we can inspire others," Lok-Dessallien said.
The first 100,000 books will be distributed to primary and middle schools in major cities across China, said Zhang Wei, communications officer of UNDP China.
The four publishing partners are UNDP China, the Chinese Environmental Protection Ministry, China's Top Brands Magazine and Huayi Brothers Media Co., Ltd.
About 150 audience members, consisting of student and teacher representatives from 15 primary and secondary schools, corporate representatives and government officials attended the launching ceremony.
