Trading on the Taiwan Stock Exchange was suspended Thursday ahead of the Chinese New Year, which falls on Feb. 14, according to news reaching here from Taipei.

The next trading day will be on Feb. 22, after the Chinese New Year holiday, which runs from Feb. 13 through 19, and the following weekend.
