Hainan Bureau for Industries and Commerce said on March 4 that Hainan had attracted a lot of investment since the central government approved the province's plan to build the island into an international tourist resort in early January.
The registration statistics from the bureau show that within the first two months of this year, a total of 2001 new enterprises were approved across the island, increasing by 105.4 percent compared to 974 in last year. The total registered capital of these enterprises amounted to 20.21 billion yuan, an increase of 589.8 percent compared to 2.93 billion in corresponding period of last year.
The number of enterprises with the registered capital of above 100 million yuan reached 47, in sharp contrast to 3 last year.
Most of these investments go into the sectors of real estate, tourism and agricultural development in cities of Haikou, Sanya, Wenchang, and Qionghai.
