China's Dazhong Insurance Co. will appeal the Microsoft software piracy lawsuit, said Ma Xing, vice president of the company on April 24.
He said the compensation amount that Microsoft demanded is much more than what Dazhong Insurance is willing to pay, as the company believes the prices Microsoft set were unreasonable since the company is suspected of having a monopoly.
The Shanghai Pudong New Area district court ruled April 23 that Dazhong Insurance must pay Microsoft 2.17 million yuan ($317,900) as compensation for using pirated Microsoft software.
