Given the backdrop of China's improving capital market, Chinese listed enterprises launched 565 merger and acquisitions (M&As) between 2005 and 2009, the Shanghai Securities News reported Monday, citing data from Zero2IPO Research Center.
The total value of these M&As stood at 117.18 billion yuan($17.25 billion), the report said.
Statistics from Zero2IPO Research Center, a professional capital market data provider in China, showed that the financial crisis didn't halt Chinese enterprises' M&A steps. Some 212 M&As were completed by Chinese listed enterprises in 2009, five times the number in 2005.
Annual M&A amount hit a record high of 64.9 billion yuan in 2008.
The real estate industry was the most active in M&As, seeing 212 M&As or total M&A amount of 26 billion yuan in the past five years.
