Chinese equities declined in Tuesday morning session on falls of bank shares, sending the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index below the 2500-point mark to close at 2490.35, down 1.77 percent.
The Shenzhen Component Index slid 2.09 percent to close at 9,803.27.
Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, the country's biggest lender, dropped 1.64 percent to 4.19 yuan at the morning close while Huaxia Bank, a mid-size lender, fell 2.53 percent to 11.17 yuan per share.
