Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive Co., the joint venture of China's Shanghai Automobile Industry Corp (SAIC) and Germany’s Volkswagen Group, will recall 24,136 units of its Fabia models from September 30 due to an engine-control device problem, the Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine announced Tuesday.
According to the regulator's statement, the models that need to be recalled were produced between August 6, 2008 and July 12, 2010. The problem with the engine- control devices of these Fabia models could lead to engine stalling in extreme situations.
Shanghai VW said it would repair the flaws at no charge, said the statement. The automaker will inform car owners by registered mail or telephone.
