Beijing West District People's Court accepted a lawsuit from Beijing Qihoo Technology Co. against Tencent Inc. for sullying its reputation, an insider with the court said on Wednesday.
Qihoo claims that it is the developer and operator of the 360 browser and has said that Tencent's product infringed the privacy of internet users. On Sept. 28, Tencent posted a report on its website that stated that the 360 browser was suspected of promoting pornographic websites, and police were investigating. Qihoo claims this report has tarnished its reputation and is requesting that Tencent cease attacks on its reputation and offer an official apology. In addition, Qihoo seeks one yuan (15 US cents) in compensation.
