Beijing's tax authority is enhancing support for businesses and individuals through significant tax relief, streamlined processes, and innovative digital services, officials said at a press conference on Thursday.
Beijing introduced tax incentives in 2020 to foster innovation and long-term investment, providing corporate income tax exemptions on technology transfer and equity transfer. These measures have collectively delivered over 700 million yuan (US$96.74 million) in tax relief to qualified companies, according to Wang Shan, an official at the Beijing tax bureau.
Beijing has also introduced a standardized electronic tax platform, significantly reducing filing times through intelligent pre-filling and guided declarations, allowing taxpayers to complete filings with minimal input. Fully digital invoices are also being promoted, enhancing convenience and efficiency.
The integration of digital RMB into tax collection has further modernized services. Eight major banks have built the infrastructure to support digital RMB payments for all tax-related transactions, offering flexible online and offline options for both businesses and individuals.
Beijing has also expanded its departure tax refund program for international travelers. Sixteen stores now offer instant cash refunds for purchases. The city now has 1,128 tax refund stores, leading the nation in this service.
