Novo Nordisk, a world-leading biopharmaceutical company, demonstrated its full industry chain layout in China, under the theme of "Driving change for generations, Healthy China", at the second China International Supply Chain Export held in Beijing from Nov. 26-30.
The Danish multinational pharmaceutical company, which is headquartered in Bagsv?rd, has production facilities in nine countries and affiliates or offices in five countries.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Novo Nordisk China. Over the past 30 years, the company has continued to increase its investment and formed a full industrial chain layout covering the three engines of R&D, production and operation.
At the expo this year, the area of Novo Nordisk exhibition booth was expanded to 450 square meters, and it mainly showcased the company's innovation ecology chain, smart manufacturing chain, and new-quality health chain.
The innovation ecology chain means that Novo Nordisk adheres to patient-centered innovation, strives to expand local R&D innovation, and promotes the transformation of research results.
The smart manufacturing chain means that the company embraces smart manufacturing, uses cutting-edge technology, develops intelligent, digital, and green new-quality productive forces, focuses on sustainable development, and continuously promotes the localization of innovative products.
The new-quality health chain means it works with partners to continuously introduce innovative products, strengthen the full-cycle management of chronic diseases in multiple disease fields, continuously promote the improvement of diagnosis and treatment levels, enhance public health awareness and chronic disease management levels, and jointly build a healthy ecosystem.
For instance, Novo Nordisk works with partners inside and outside the industry to build an integrated "online + offline" digital chronic disease management model, using digital means to better help patients manage their diseases themselves.
Apart from that, Novo Nordisk also displayed a number of innovative drugs and injection devices, covering multiple disease areas such as diabetes, obesity, and rare diseases at the expo.
In addition, Novo Nordisk joined hands with Sinopharm Logistics to hold the "Novo Nordisk Modern Logistics Warehousing Center Project Delivery Ceremony" during the expo. The project aims to further optimize Novo Nordisk's supply chain network layout in China, improve drug accessibility, and strengthen the reliability of the drug supply chain.
Novo Nordisk also showcased its green supply chain. Novo Nordisk China has in-depth collaboration across all links of the entire industry chain to implement the concept of green and low-carbon development.
Its production plant in Tianjin, as one of Novo Nordisk's global strategic production bases, has established a "circular zero pollution" evaluation model, which means it can achieve zero-carbon goals in four dimensions: waste, water saving, energy saving, and procurement.
In the future, Novo Nordisk also plans to use digital and intelligent technologies to build smart factories and achieve a 100% green electricity and water recycling system.
Senior Vice President & President of Region China at Novo Nordisk Christine Zhou pointed out, "Since entering China in 1994, Novo Nordisk has been working hard to fulfill its mission and has formed a full industrial chain layout covering the three engines of R&D, production, and operation."
"We are very honored to be able to participate in the expo again, to meet friends through the 'chain', and to drive change with all partners to better serve Chinese patients. In the future, we look forward to working with more partners to contribute to the security, stability and smoothness of the global industrial chain and supply chain," she added.
