Beijing's Economic and Technological Development Area (BDA) has become a hub for the integration of technology and culture. Since 2021, the area has established seven tech- cultural industrial parks, a broadcasting and TV laboratory system, and the city's largest and most advanced professional e-sports venue. The area's cultural industry revenue increased from 18.99 billion yuan (US$2.61 billion) in 2020 to 60.09 billion yuan in 2023.

In April 2022, the China (Beijing) High-tech Audio-visual Industrial Park was inaugurated, aiming to build a laboratory focusing on ultra-high-definition TV technology. The laboratory conducts cutting-edge research in areas such as 3D audio, audio-visual coding and decoding, cloud recording and playback, and new-generation satellite broadcasting. The laboratory's cloud recording technology has been used in Olympic Games broadcasts, while 5G, 8K resolution, and VR technologies have been combined to enhance the broadcasting and recording of major performances.

The park also plays a role in gathering upstream and downstream enterprises, hosting over 30 industrial salons and seminars. More enterprises and professionals have joined the park to promote integrated development and optimize industrial chains.

Last year, China Digital Cultural Group was relocated to the BDA. The group has undertaken various national major cultural digitalization projects such as those related to the Peking Opera and big data technology for cultural resources management, according to Jiang Jian, director of a technology innovation center of the group.

By November, the group had established eight major databases encompassing national stage performances, traditional Chinese music, and animation works by Chinese college students. The data system housed 176,000 cultural records and 862 cultural datasets.

The group has also developed digital cultural tourism products such as the cultural tourism digital station. It uses technologies such as cloud computing, big data, and the Internet of Things to present performances and exhibitions. Cultural product vending machines and cultural digital service terminals are also available to enhance cultural experience.
