The Indonesian delegation was to raise fair development issue at the World Economic Forum in Davos of Switzerland on Jan 26 to 31, Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu said Thursday.
Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was to convey a keynote speech at the forum, along with four other heads of states and prime ministers, the minister said.
"The most important thing for Indonesia on the forum is (to raise) the issue of fair development, such as on trade, where we will attempt for creation of fair trade and prevent protectionism which may bring disadvantages for emerging econmies," she told a press conference at the Coordinating Ministry for economy here.
Indonesia's participation on the forum would represent developing countries and ASEAN, as the country chairs ASEAN this year, said Pangestu. Indonesia is also a member of G20 forum.
Indonesia is less dependence on exports, unlike other Asian peers. The country's exports are account of 32 percent of its GDP, but rising overseas sales along with rising investment and consumption have also contributed along on the expected economic growth to over 6 percent last year.
Indonesia forecasts exports would rise by 12 percent to 168 billion U.S. dollars this year, as global economic recovery raises demands, Coordinating Minister for Economy Hatta Rajasa said on Jan. 3.
Indonesia's exports in November 2010 hit a record of 42.34 percent hike to 15.34 billion U.S. dollars year on year, and the cumulative of the overseas sales by November reached 140.65 billion U.S. dollars, the Statistic Bureau said earlier this month.
Minister Pangestu said that President Yudhoyono would lead Indonesian delegation, comprising five ministers and 16 bussinessmen and officials.
The Indonesian central bank has maintained rupiah at the level of 9,000, as the capital inflows lead appreciation of the currency, to support oversee sales.
Indonesia would deliver about the transformation of the country to the forum, she said.
The World Economic Forum is a non-profit international organization which has commitment to improve the state of the world through partnership cooperation among world leaders in determination of global and regional agenda and industry agenda as well.
