Up to last week, 1,174 Toyota RAV4 cars had been recalled in Shanghai, local quality authorities said yesterday.
A total of 2,021 cars will be recalled in the city over pedals which could stay stuck and prevent vehicles from slowing down.
The recalled cars will be repaired and tested before being given back to their owners, the Shanghai Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision said yesterday. The whole recall will be finished in two months, officials said.
On the Chinese mainland, a total of 75,552 RAV4 cars will be recalled. A total of 8.5 million vehicles have been recalled globally since October.
