At least three more metro lines will be built with stops in Beijing's Central Business District (CBD) within next five years, the Beijing Youth Daily reported today, citing comments by Chen Gang, Beijing's vice mayor.
In addition to Metro lines six and 14, which will make stops in the CBD, line seven, which is still being planned, is likely to pass through the area too, the Beijing Youth Daily learned from the Development Department of the CBD Administratiive Commettee.
Traffic has long been a headache for approximately 180,000 people working in the roughly 15,000 companies with offices in the CBD area, which is currently served by the number 1 and 10 metro lines.
There are also plans to expand the district eastward, and a final decision on how to do so is expected by the end of the year.
