China's public security forces had arrested 82,000 drug suspects and cracked 70,000 drug cases from January to November last year, a senior official with the Ministry of Public Security said on Thursday.
The suspects included 60 key Chinese and overseas drug traffickers, said Zhang Xinfeng, vice minister of public security, at a nationwide teleconference.
China's southwest Yunnan Province borders the Golden Triangle region where drugs are produced and smuggled.
The ministry has launched a 100-day nationwide winter campaign to push harder on the crack down on illegal drug dealings.
