A Chinese man has surrendered himself to police after murdering seven relatives, including his wife and three children aged between one and seven, in southwestern Guizhou Province, local police said Thursday.
The killing spree took place in the early morning of Wednesday in the Ximenkan Village, in Songtao County, when 37-year-old villager Zhu Caifa used a kitchen knife and an axe to commit the murder, said a spokesman with the Guizhou Provincial Department of Public Security.
The victims also included two nephews and a niece of Zhu, who were aged between seven and 14, the spokesman said.
Zhu turned himself in to police about eight hours after the killing, he said.
An initial investigation shows that Zhu, who had worked as a migrant worker in other place and had returned home not long ago, had a quarrel with his wife before the killing.
The case is under further investigation.
