Police in Karamay, the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, have arrested two childhood friends who opened up each other's heads over the death of two dogs.
In May 2009, Liu was asked by his friend, who was leaving town, to take care of his two dogs while he was away.
Liu was not willing at first, but his friend promised he would not blame him if anything were to happen to the dogs.
Two months later, the friend returned to find both his dogs dead and blamed Liu.
In May this year, the owner of the dogs demanded 60,000 yuan ($9,000) from Liu, who blatantly refused to pay up.
Earlier this month, the angry dog owner barged into Liu's house and hit him on the head with a tile. In response, Liu split open the dog owner's head with an iron bar.
The police have locked both of them up.
