Several officials responsible for an illegal demolition of a building, which left one villager dead and one injured in north China's Shanxi Province, were dismissed or suspended from duty Saturday, said local authorities on Sunday.
The Taiyuan City Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) removed Ji Jianzhong as a former member of the Standing Committee of the Jinyuan District Committee of the CPC, according to the press office of the Taiyuan city government.
Prosecutors have decided to investigate Ji, Wang Quanyou, deputy chief of the district's housing and construction administration, and Zhang Chunsheng, a security guard manager, according to the press office.
Jinyuan District authorities were instructed to suspend Zhang Xingwang, secretary of the Jinsheng Town committee of the CPC, and Dong Maogeng, assistant to the town head, from duty, according to the press office.
Additionally, Shanxi Tongxin Old Building Demolition Co., Ltd. and Qixing Security & Property Management Co., Ltd., which were involved in the incident, had their operating licenses revoked, it said.
Police have detained 12 suspects in connection with the incident.
The illegal demolition on Oct. 30 led to one dead and one injured.
