Two people were killed after a truck carrying chemicals overturned in Guizhou Province Thursday, rescuers said.
The truck loaded with titanium tetrachloride rolled on a highway in Duyun City at about 3:30 a.m. Thursday, killing the driver and his colleague.
The chemical leaked out and mixed with the air producing hydrogen chloride, which could cause respiratory problem, headaches, eye and skin irritations.
Rescuers immediately cordoned off the area and evacuated residents.
No more casualties have been reported.
Experts are testing the water quality in the area and police are investigating the cause of the accident.
