The Planning Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region's government forecasts the population of Hong Kong will rise to 7.66 million by 2019.
In the Projections of Population Distribution 2010-2019 report published yesterday, the department estimates the population of Hong Kong Island will rise over the next 10 years by 30,000 to 1.32 million.
The New Territories' -population will rise by 374,900 to 4.02 million, while Kowloon's will go up by 258,800 to 2.32 million.
For total population share, Kowloon will rise 1 percent to 30 percent, the New Territories will stay at 52 percent and Hong Kong Island will fall 1 percent to 17 percent.
The projections are based on data taken last July.
