Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping has called for the strengthening and improvement of the Party building to set a solid foundation for the beginning of the next five-year period.
Xi made the remarks during his four-day inspection tour that ended on Wednesday in central Hunan Province. During the visit, he made a special trip to the former residence of Chairman Mao Zedong (1893-1976).
In Mao's birthplace, Shaoshan village, Xi said that the revolutionary tradition of the older generation was a precious spiritual wealth for the Communist Party of China (CPC).
All CPC members and officials should learn the Party's history and understand the inevitability of the CPC's leadership that was chosen by history and the people, Xi said.
The CPC members should further strengthen their resolution to take the socialist road in a Chinese way and strive to meet the needs of the Party and the people, Xi noted.
During the tour, Xi also visited some companies, encouraging local authorities to develop new industries and make more innovations to optimize industrial structures for environmental protection and boosting the people's well-being.
Agricultural development also topped the agenda of Xi's trip. He urged local officials to fully implement policies that benefit farmers, push forward the modernization of agriculture and ensure the safety of agricultural products.
He also emphasized the importance of irrigation construction and the improvement of preparations for natural disasters.
During the visit to a local community, he stressed the importance of enhancing social management to better serve the people.
