Three people were killed and six others were injured in a car accident Thursday night in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, local police said Friday.
The accident ocurred in Urumqi, the regional capital city, at around 7:00 p.m. Thursday when a business-purpose vehicle (BPV) with nine people aboard overturned on Heihu Road in Dabancheng District, killing three people on the scene and injuring the other six.
All of the injured have been hospitalized.
The nine people aboard the vehicle included the driver, a female teacher, a pre-school girl and six students with the Urumqi No. 40 Middle School. The dead were the driver, the pre-schooler and a student.
The car was hired by parents of the students to carry their children to and from school as the middle school has no special school bus for its students.
Cause of the accident is being investigated.
