A man who threatened to commit suicide and attempted to attack the police by a cleaver was shot and wounded on Tuesday in Hong Kong.
After receiving an incident report at about 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, three police officers arrived at a residential building located in Wong Tai Sin, Kowloon, where the man was found emotionally disturbed, intending to hurt himself and others, the police told Xinhua.
Two of the constables fired a total of six shots and overpowered the man who was waving the cleaver and rushing towards to the police. The man was wounded and a constable was slightly injured, according to the police.
Hong Kong Commissioner of Police Tsang Wai-hung said, officers are cautious of using force and they can open fire in face of attack that may cause serious injury.
The police will probe into the case and put in a report within 48 hours, Tsang added.
