The Fourth Plenum of the 13th Central Committee of the CPC was held in Beijing from June 23 – 24, 1989. The meeting made certain adjustment to the CPC leadership, and Jiang Zemin was elected as the Central Committee General Secretary. The Plenum stressed thorough execution of the guidelines, principles and policies laid out from the Third Plenum of the 11th CPC Central Committee.
