China's top legislature would enhance budgetary supervision this year to facilitate efforts to transform development pattern and improve people's livelihood, a spokesman said Thursday.
Li Zhaoxing, spokesman for the Third Session of the 11th National People's Congress (NPC), the country's top legislature, told a press conference a day before the opening of the NPC annual session.
A key task for the NPC Standing Committee this year was to ensure the implementation of major policies and promote the transformation of economic development pattern, adjustment of economic structure and improvement of people's living standards, Li said.
He noted that the NPC Standing Committee would enhance supervision, especially budgetary supervision, to facilitate these efforts and improve the focus and efficiency of its supervision work this year.
