Stricken tanker out of danger without oil spill
Adjust font size:

China Marine Rescue Center (CMRC) said Friday a 5,000-tonne stricken tanker ship in China's East Sea was finally out of danger, with the help of CMRC and the East Sea Rescue Bureau under the Ministry of Communication, causing no oil leak.

The tanker, the Lihua 6 from Changrun Shipping Corporation of China's eastern Zhejiang Province, was carrying 4500 tonnes of diesel oil when it was hit starboard by a Taiwan container ship on April 8, according to CMRC.

The 17 crew members of Lihua 6 had been transferred to the Taiwan ship, and CMRC had sent two professional rescue ships to the scene, CMRC said.

The tanker was successfully towed to the nearest port Lianyungang of eastern China as of April 9, and by April 10, the diesel oil on the ship had been unloaded, CMRC said.
