A quake relief volunteer in Yushu, a Tibetan autonomous prefecture in northwest China's Qinghai Province, died in a road accident on his way home Friday, local authorities said Saturday.
Zhang Jianhua, 41, a logistic staffer at the hospital, was in charge of logistic services for Xinghua Hospital's medical team to Yushu.
Zhang's colleague Ma Xianwei, an anesthetist from the same hospital, was injured in the crash and was being treated at Qinghai People's Hospital.
The medical team had rented the pick-up in Gyegu town, the epicenter of the 7.1-magnitude earthquake of April 14. They left Gyegu at 6 a.m. Friday for Xining.
Police said the accident happened at around 2 p.m.
