Kate Winslet, "Slumdog Millionaire" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" lead the 2009 BAFTA Award nominations.

The actress follows her double Golden Globe win with two nominations in the Leading Actress category for "Revolutionary Road" and "The Reader" - in which she plays a Nazi prison guard.

"Slumdog Millionaire" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" are the films with the most nominations, receiving 11 nods each, followed by "The Dark Knight" with nine, and "Changeling" with eight.

All four movies have cast members up for prizes, with couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie named in the Leading Actor and Leading Actress categories respectively for their roles in "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" and "Changeling".

"Slumdog Millionaire" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" are both up for the prestigious Best Film accolade and will battle "Frost/Nixon", "Milk" and "The Reader" for the honour.

Brad will fight it out against "Frost/Nixon" actor Frank Langella, "Milk" star Sean Penn, Mickey Rourke - who has already picked up a Golden Globe for his performance in "The Wrestler" - and newcomer Dev Patel who has impressed critics with his turn in "Slumdog Millionaire".

Heath Ledger is posthumously nominated in the Supporting Actor category for his interpretation of The Joker in Batman blockbuster "The Dark Knight".

The Orange British Academy Film Awards will be hosted by Jonathan Ross - who is to return to broadcasting on TV and radio at the end of January after a three-month ban for lewd conduct on a BBC radio station - has asked for suggestions from the public for an unlikely word to slip into the ceremony.

He wrote on social networking site Twitter: "Thanks for BAFTA suggestions. Will whittle them down to a top three then slip one in."

The BAFTAs take place on February 8 at The Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, London.
