Top 10 HK Brandnames Awarded
Some 10 of the most outstanding Hong Kong brandnames were awarded in Hong Kong Wednesday, which is designed to encourage local manufacturers in pursuit of excellence.

The winners of the "2002 Hong Kong Top Ten Brandnames Awards" are from a wide spectrum of industrial sectors, such as cooking oil, snacks, drinks, jewellery, underclothes, sails, stationery and furniture.

The 10 include both well-established brandnames with a long history and some newly emerging labels and industrial brandnames.

Of them, Chow Tai Fook jewellery Co Ltd, scoring the highest vote in the on-line polling, also won "the Most Popular Brandname On-line."

Organized by the Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong (CMA) since 1999, the conferral of the Hong Kong Top 10 Brandnames Awards, which is now in its fourth running, is aimed toidentify Hong Kong's outstanding brands and encourage manufacturers in pursuit of excellence.

Addressing the prize presentation ceremony, CMA President Chan Wing Kee noted that the awards have "played a pivotal role in leading our industries forward along the value-adding chain."

Chan said that the 2002 Awards proved to be another great success, as all the entries have exhibited high-level performance in respect of reputation, product distinctiveness, innovation, quality, image and packaging, and environmental performance.

"Much impressively, some industrial brands have emerged on the list of winners, reflecting that brand-building is becoming a pervasive trend across various industrial sectors," Chan pointed out.

Chan hoped that Hong Kong Top 10 Brandnames Awards will assume a more active and versatile role in the development of Hong Kong brands.

He elaborated that the awards should sharpen their leadership in the arena of brand accreditation, promotion, research, training, and incubation, while serving as a facilitator for HK products' adventure into the Chinese mainland and overseas markets.
