Bomb disposal experts from China and Japan are pushing forward with their mission in Qiqihar to destroy Japanese chemical weapons left over from World War Two. UN officials have been there to monitor the disposal.
The operation began a week ago in the northeastern Chinese city and will continue for another two weeks. It involves nearly 800 barrels in several areas of northeastern China. They include 5 barrels of mustard gas, which leaked and killed a Chinese man in Qiqihar three months ago.
For now, most of the weapons have been sealed off. But it's only the start of a long and hazardous mission. It's estimated that as many as two million Japanese chemical weapons remain buried across China.
