United States President George W. Bush has left Paris at 16:35 local time (1435 GMT) Monday for Rome,the fourth leg of his week-long European tour.
Bush, who arrived here on Sunday afternoon from Saint Petersburg, Russia, had a 90-minute talk with French President Jacques Chirac and a working dinner with Chirac and French government leaders on Sunday.
The two presidents announced that they shared the same understanding and the same determination to eradicate terrorism.
On Monday -- the US Memorial Day, accompanied by Chirac, Bush attended a religious ceremony honoring US war dead at the small town of Sainte-Mere-Eglise and visited the largest US cemetery at Colleville-Sur-Mer, where are buried 9,000-more American soldiers killed during the Normandy campaign fighting Nazi German invaders in 1944.
At the religious ceremony, Bush announced that the US will "continue making all necessary sacrifices to defend the liberty of the world."
Chirac responded by saying that France and the United States will fight together and win the war on terrorism.
In Rome, Bush will meet with another key European ally, Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, to rally stronger European support for his war on terrorism. On Tuesday, he will attend a NATO-Russia summit.
