Shanghai's traffic police and hospitals jointly established an emergency rescue system today to improve efficiency in saving people injured in traffic accidents,Xinmin Evening News reported today.
The system,called "Traffic Accident High-Speed Rescue System"or "Green Channel",was designed by the city's traffic police and was welcomed by local hospitals.
It said that the police will vouch for a normal payment of medical treatment fees to hospitals thus to ensure that a rescue will not be delayed by any financial problems.
Before,a delay of medical treatment payment by many people involved in traffic accidents has placed many financial burdens on hospitals.
Hua Gencai,president of the Putuo District Zhongxin Hospital in city downtown,said that more than 40percent of the one hundred over injured people received by the hospital every month are in arrear with medical treatment fees.
Under the new emergency system,police will take the responsibility to collect the medical fees from people responsible for accidents and hospitals should not have any more worries about finance.
In detail,police will inform rescue teams to send patients to hospitals immediately after the happening of any accidents.They will appoint people concerned to pay medical fees then.In case of failure of payment,they will help raise fees for timely rescue and will asked for the money from the persons liable later.
The Shanghai Public Security Bureau and the Public Health Bureau also appointed some 60local hospitals to be first-aid hospitals for traffic accidents today.The hospitals will try to guarantee a timely treatment of injured people.
