3 to 8  A delegation from the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) headed by Party Leader Ichiro Ozawa visited China at the invitation of the CPC. Hu Jintao, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the CPC and State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan met with the delegation. Hu said that China attaches great importance to Sino-Japanese relations. The Chinese government and the CPC has been viewing and handling bilateral relations from a strategic and long-term perspective. China's foreign policy towards Japan will continue to be one of building peaceful coexistence, long-lasting friendship, mutually beneficial cooperation, and common development. He hoped the two sides would adhere to the principles enshrined in the Sino-Japanese Joint Statement, the Sino-Japanese Joint Declaration and the Peace and Friendship Treaty. Hu also called on the two sides to take history as a mirror to guide the future and to handle the problems between the two countries properly. It is also imperative to expand cooperation and exchanges in all areas and at all levels to deepen understanding and friendship between the two peoples. He urged Japan to join hands with China to remove all political barriers and steer China-Japan relations back to the right track of healthy and stable development. The two sides should work together to write a new chapter for friendly and cooperative Sino-Japanese relations in the twenty first century.

3 to 14  A delegation from the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS) of Morocco headed by Ismael Alaoui, General Secretary of the Party, visited China at the invitation of the CPC. Wu Guanzheng, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC, met with the delegation. Wu said that relations between the two parties had become an integral part of Sino-Moroccan relations. The CPC stands ready to further strengthen cooperation with all political parties in Morocco, including the PPS. Such cooperation should be based on principles of independence, complete equality, mutual respect, and non-interference in each other's internal affairs. He hoped the two sides would join hands to make further contributions to a stable and long-lasting relationship between the two nations.

4 to 12  A delegation from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) led by Hussain Muhammad Ershad, the Party Chairman and Former President of Bangladesh, visited China at the invitation of the CPC. He Luli, Vice Chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), met with the delegation.

4 to 17  A delegation from the Palestine National Liberation Movement (Fateh) headed by Saad Alewa Hadi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Relations, visited China at the invitation of the International Department of the Central Committee of the CPC.

7 to 12  Esteban Lazo Hernández, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party and Vice President of the Cuban Council of State, visited China at the invitation of the CPC. He met with Li Changchun, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC and with Liu Yunshan, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC. Li Changchun said that Sino-Cuban relations had entered into a new era of comprehensive development in recent years. The CPC attaches great importance to further developing relations between the two parties and will strive to promote friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

7 to 17  A delegation from the Human Right's Protection Party of Samoa led by Hou Tuuu Anasii Leota MP, Party Member and Customs and Taxation Minister, visited China at the invitation of the International Department of the Central Committee of the CPC.

9 to 14   Pia Elda Locatelli, President of Women's Socialist International, Member of the European Parliament, Member of the National Executive Board and Secretary of the International Department of the Italian Democratic Socialist Party, visited China at the invitation of the International Department of the Central Committee of the CPC.

9 to 16  A delegation from the Communist Party of Israel headed by Issam Makhoul, General Secretary of the Party, paid a visit to China at the invitation of the CPC. Liu Qi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC, met with the delegation.

9 to 16  Narayan Dutt Tiwari, Leader of the Indian National Congress and Chief Minister of Uttaranchal State, visited China at the invitation of the International Department of the Central Committee of the CPC. Luo Hao, Vice Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) met with him.

10     Hu Jintao, General Secretary of the CPC, President of the People's Republic of China (PRC) and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, together with Wu Bangguo, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), and Wen Jiabao, Premier of the State Council, spoke on the telephone with Kim Jong Il, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and Chairman of the National Defense Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) together with Kim Yong Nam, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, and Pak Bong Ju, Prime Minister of the Cabinet. The two sides exchanged congratulations on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between the PRC and the DPRK.

10 to 17  Jorge Moragas, Head of the International Department of the Spanish People's Party, visited China at the invitation of the International Department of the Central Committee of the CPC. He met with He Yong, Member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the CPC.

10 to 20  A Lao party delegation, headed by Somsawat Lengsavad, Member of the Political Bureau of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and Deputy Prime Minister of Lao, visited China at the invitation of the CPC. Wu Guanzheng, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC, met with the delegation. Wu said that the traditional Sino-Laotian friendship has deepened since the two countries established diplomatic ties 45 years ago. Based on the policy of pursuing long-term stability, cherishing good-neighborliness, trust and all-round cooperation, it is the wish of the two sides to maintain the good relationship for generations to come. Wu hoped to see enhanced cooperation with the Lao ruling party in such areas as reform and opening-up, economic development and party building.

12 to 16  A delegation of non-partisan members of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea (ROK) headed by its Deputy Speaker Lee Yong Hee visited China at the invitation of the International Committee of the Central Committee of the CPC. Gu Xiulian, Vice-Chairwoman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), met with the delegation.

12 to 23  Mogens Lykketoft, Foreign Policy Spokesman and Former Chairman of the Social Democratic Party of Denmark paid a visit to China at the invitation of the International Department of the Central Committee of the CPC. Gu Xiulian, Vice-Chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), met with him.

16 to 20  Makoto Koga, Former Secretary General of Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party, visited China at the invitation of the International Department of the Central Committee of the CPC. He met with Zeng Qinghong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC. Zeng noted that China and Japan are both countries with significant influence in Asia and the world and that developing long-term, stable, good-neighborly and friendly ties serves the basic interests of the two countries and peoples, and also helps promote peace, stability and the development of Asia and the world. Zeng expressed the hope that Japan will make joint efforts with China to overcome political obstacles in relations as soon as possible and put China-Japan relations back on the track of healthy, stable development.

16 to 23  A delegation from the South African Communist Party (SACP), headed by Blade Nzimande, Secretary General of the SACP, paid a visit to China at the invitation of the CPC. Li Changchun, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC, met with the delegation. Li said the CPC and the SACP each have long traditions founded on revolutionary ideologies. The CPC highly values its friendly ties with the SACP. Based on the four principles of independence, complete equality, mutual respect and non-interference in each other's internal affairs, the CPC was ready to enhance relations with the SACP and other major political parties of South Africa in an effort to push forward bilateral ties between the two countries.

23 July to 3 August  The Niger's National Movement for Social Development visited China. Habi Mahamadou Salissou, General Secretary and Minister of Trade and Private Sector Promotion, were in Beijing at the invitation of the CPC.
