Chinese, French Emperors' Lives to Be on Display in Palace Museum

Exhibitions on the lives of Pu Yi (1906-1967), China's last emperor of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911),and Louis XIV (1638-1715), an emperor of France, are expected to held in the Palace Museum, in central Beijing.

The museum, formerly the Imperial Palace, is now undergoing large-scale repairs, and the show on the last Chinese emperor is scheduled to begin on October 1, the National Day. A western-style banquet held by Pu Yi will become the main content of the exhibition.

In 2005, in addition to the show on the French emperor, there will also be some other major exhibitions, such as shows on chinaware exported to Sweden during the 19th century and costumes and decorations collected by the Palace Museum.

Currently, the museum is hosting its large exhibition on foreign exhibits, a show on aboriginal traditions of the Amazon in Brazil.
