| Seven Chinese Movies to Enter Cannes Race in May |

The China Film Group has selected six Chinese movies for the upcoming Cannes Film Festival, including The Knot, Tokyo Trial, and Love in The City. May 16 marks the 60th anniversary of the Cannes Film Festival, which is expected to boast an unprecedented star-studded lineup and top film competitors.
The high-profile Chinese actor-turned-director Jiang Wen's latest movie The Sun Still Rises will also enter the A Zhou-surnamed senior manager from China Film Promotion International, an affiliate of China Film Group Corporation, told Shanghai Youth Daily that the six officially recommended movies are good both in terms of box office takings and reputation. They should represent the quality of contemporary Chinese movies. Organizers of the Cannes Film Festival have released the first batch of guest lists, which include Chinese star actress Gong Li. Moreover, Hong Kong director Wong Kar-wai's first English language movie My Blueberry Night is expected to be the opening film at the festival. The documentary A Great Master Recaptured, which tells stories of the late Chinese opera master Mei Lanfang, will also be screened during the film festival. China Film Promotion International will put up a big exhibition at the film festival to promote Chinese movies. Some 50 bosses of China's film companies will also be in attendance to get a chance to meet their overseas buyers.
