A six-day photo exhibition held to showcase the province's progress in environmental protection over the past 30 years opened Thursday in a park in Guangzhou, the capital of south China's Guangdong Province.
The exhibition, held on the 31st anniversary of World Environment Day, is sponsored by the provincial environmental protection bureau.
More than 1,000 color photos portraying the province's achievements in environmental protection are on display, including pollution-reduction in industry, ecological protection in rural areas, the development of the environmental protection industry and environmental education and awareness.
The exhibition, which is comprised of nine sections, includes a special section on Guangdong's fight against severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) over the past several months.
