Starting with the Zhengzhou Meeting, convened in November 1958, the CPC Central Committee and Mao Zedong made efforts to lead the whole Party in correcting the ?Left? mistakes already realized. However, when the ?anti-Right deviation? struggle started in the latter half of the Eighth Plenary Session of the Eighth CPC Central Committee, the process of correcting the ?Left? mistakes was interrupted. From 1960, the country suffered economic difficulties for three consecutive years.
