Lesson Forty-two Visiting the Palace Museum

The Palace Museum, also known as the Forbidden City, served as Imperial Palace to generations of Chinese emperors during the Ming and Qin dynasties. It is located in the heart of Beijing. Construction on the palace began in the fourth year of Yongle's Reign in the Ming Dynasty (1406). It is one of the most complete imperial architectures in the world.

Mài kè: Wǒ men shén me shí hou cān guān gù gōng?
麥克: 我們什么時(shí)候參觀故宮?
Mike: When shall we visit the Palace Museum?
Lì li: Míng tiān shàng wǔ, wǒ men ān pái bàn tiān shí jiān.
麗麗: 明天上午,我們安排半天時(shí)間。
Lili: Tomorrow morning. We'll set aside a half day to do that.
Mài kè: Yòng de liǎo zhè me cháng shí jiān ma?
麥克: 用得了這么長(zhǎng)時(shí)間嗎?
Mike: Do we need so much time?
Lì li: Gù gōng hěn dà, bàn tiān shí jiān zhǐ néng zǒu mǎ guān huā de kàn kan.
麗麗: 故宮很大,半天時(shí)間只能走馬觀花地看看。
Lili: The Palace Museum is huge! Half a day is just about enough for only a quick tour.
Mai ke: Gù gōng zài běi jīng de shì zhōng xīn, shì ma?
麥克: 故宮在北京的市中心,是嗎?
Mike: It's in the center of Beijing, isn't it?
Li li: Shì de, qù nà lǐ jiāo tōng hěn fāng biàn. Wǒ men zuò lǚ xíng chē qù.

Lili: Yes. Getting there is easy. We'll take the tourist bus.
