Spanish Police Arrest Another Suspect in Madrid Bombings

Spanish police captured another man allegedly involved in the bloody bombings that hit Madrid railway system on March 11 after they made a series of raids.

Police did not immediately give the name or the nationality of the suspect.

This brought the number of captured suspects linked with bombings to 20, 12 of the detainees were put into custody by orders of judge Juan del Olmo.

Last March 11, the worst terror attack in Spain's history killed 190 people and wounded 1,450 in Madrid.

The arrested include two Indians, one Spaniard and several Moroccans.

Judge Juan del Olmo ruled Friday unconditional the imprisonment of Faisal Aluch, the Moroccan who was interviewed by the judge along with the other Moroccan detainee Khalid Oulad.

Five of the detainees are accused of involving directly in the attempts. Four of them are Moroccans and the other one is the Spaniard Jose Manuel Suarez, who is charged with providing more than 100 kilograms of explosives used in the attacks.

The accusations lodged against the detainees include 190 murders, 1,430 homicide attempts and terror acts.

Indian citizens Suresh Kumar and Vinay Kohly are charged with providing the mobile telephones used in the bombings.

The Spanish police made the arrests with the help of information contained in a mobile phone that did not blow up in one of the bombs.

According to experts, mobile phones can be used to trigger a bomb from a distance.
