Mexico's Green Ecologist Party Friday suggested in a statement the government should encourage renewable energy generation with tax breaks in the the country's 2011 budget.
"It will encourage new energy's development and reduce the production cost. Residents will also have more access to cheaper energy," said Juan Jose Guerra Abud, the party's legislative coordinator.
Guerra's plan would cover energy produced from solar and wind sources.
Mexico has begun a public debate on next year's budget before the Finance Ministry submits the bill to the legislature on Sept. 8. The legislature will discuss the bill for a month before making its final decision.
