Newly-arrived panda pair settling down in Macao

A?pair of giant pandas, given by China's central government as gifts to the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), are getting accustomed to their new habitat, the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau said on Tuesday.
The giant pandas named "Kai Kai" and "Xin Xin" arrived in Macao from Chengdu City, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province, earlier this month.
They seemed to enjoy their new home in Macao, as they played happily at the panda pavilion, the bureau said in a statement.
The Macao government spent some 90 million patacas (11.4 million U.S. dollars) to build a new home for the pandas. The pavilion covers 3,000 square meters and has feeding and medical facilities.
The pandas were temporarily confined to indoor activities. They have been healthy and active so far, the statement said.
The panda pavilion has two 330-square-meter indoor spaces simulating natural habitats, according to the Bureau.
Chinese President Hu Jintao announced the decision to give the pandas to Macao during a visit in December 2009.
