Chinese satellites have provided monitoring services for Chile following its earthquake, the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense revealed on Thursday.
Satellites Ziyuan III and Gaofen-1 have captured eight high-definition images of Chilean city Iquique and a region 100 km to the east of it. Ziyuan III has also stored six historical images of the area.
The captured data has been offered to the Chile embassy in China, to help Chile's quake relief and disaster assessment.
An 8.2-magnitude earthquake hit Chilean coastal waters northwest of Iquique on April 2, triggering a tsunami.
